The focal point of the construction site is a highly frequented urban space where various city currents converge. Wave breakers, placed playfully, disrupt these flows, guiding and slowing down the environment while inviting reflection. Their geometric placement reflects the Anthropocene, where human influence now outweighs nature’s power in shaping biological, geological, and atmospheric processes. The wave breakers symbolize self-preservation, prompting us to question urban development and its consequences.

Almost frozen in time the pieces present themselves like objects on a tray. Each sculpture reacts to their surrounding and gives a waypoint in the busy plateau in front of Eastside Mall in Berlin Friedrichshain.

The sculptures break the people flows like waves and create spaces of gathering and informal meeting points around them. With the urban integration they interact with the surrounding fabric of the mixed use environments and allow for calm resting points in their busy surrounding.
