Connecting transport infrastructure with open-space systems, establishes a flood-resilient link, and simultaneously acts as a public realm. The design unites technical excellence with strong architectural presence, embodying a holistic approach to sustainability: climate-conscious, economically efficient, durable, and consistently high in quality. The bridge is envisioned as an urban promenade — a place for movement and for lingering. On the northern side, the cross-section widens to incorporate a continuous seating bench, inviting people to pause and enjoy panoramic views. The bastions are designed as staggered “Elbe balconies,” creating layered connections between bridge, waterfront, and landscape. Underpasses provide fully accessible pedestrian and cycling links, while the formerly solid embankment walls are transformed into articulated, publicly usable spaces with generous seating steps.
